LAURA KLAUSS

Co-founder, Better Future Factory

Laura Klauss is an engineer and co-founder of Better Future Factory, a sustainable design and engineering studio, focused on plastic recycling. By combining their idealistic drive to make the world a bit better and an engineers curiosity for plastics, the Better Future Factory team nowadays works for clients all over the world on transforming their plastic waste streams into new products or re-engineering current products for a circular economy.

At MESH Festival Laura will talk about why it makes no sense to discard plastic waste, how plastic waste can be a resource in different contexts and the challenges when working with recycled plastics.

The studio’s method of work has led to several innovative products that started new sustainable companies. Perpetual Plastic: Interactive plastic recycling installations for events, Refil: Transforming old car dashboards, refrigerators and bottles into 3D printing ink, New Marble: Making beautiful wall tiles from plastic waste. Laura graduated from Delft University of Technology with a Masters Degree in Industrial Design Engineering. Her work was rewarded in 2016 by winning the public vote for the prestigious Dutch Engineer of the Year Award.
